Caused by a tiny, sap-sucking, cicada-like insect called Psyllid (Trioza eungeniae), these pimply lumps occur on non-resistant varieties. The good news is that, although unsightly, they do not kill the plant and occur on new growth only. Psyllid can be treated with a systemic Imidacloprid insecticide but damage can only be removed by pruning. The BETTER NEWS is that there are plenty of Psyllid-Resistant varieties to choose from - far less work and better for the environment;
